Christian Theology: An Introduction, Allister McGrath
This book follows the historical development of major theological topics. It is somewhat neutral when describing theological systems that view the view the Bible as infallible and those that do not (e.g., neoorthodoxy and liberal theology).

In this book, C.S. Lewis discusses why an all-good and all-knowing and all-powerful God allows for seemingly unnecessary pain in the world. This topic is closely related to the Problem of Evil.
